EVERYBODY’S. LAST NIGHT OF “A,SINLESS SINNER.” The development of a super-normal and baffling double personality is the keynote nf the Brtmon-English production “A Sinless Sinner.” featuring the international favorite Marie Doro. One self is quite normal, innocent, healthy girlhood, while bhe other manifests itself in a decided craving for excitement and revelry, and takes the girl, all uneonscions -of her surroundings, into real danger from which she is extricated in the nick of time by her lover. The elfish beauty of Marie Doro, and her magnetic personality, are alone two things that make the picture, apart altogether from its splendid production and novelty of plot. Nowadays few pictures provide such really thrilling moments and interesting situations as “A Sinless Sinner” gives in good measure. ? COMING TO-MORROW. • HAUNTING SHADOWS” fl. B. Warner stars to-morrow and Thursday in the Robertson-Cole special feature “Haunting Shadows.” adapted from “The House of 1000 Oardies.” THE PEOPLE'S. WM. RUSSELL IN A BIG WESTERN PLAY. William Russell puts over another big success in “The Challenge of the Law,” his latest Fox production commencing to-night at the People’s. Here is- a. virile tale of the Canadian backwoods and the Royal North-west Mounted Police, in which Russell appears as a captain. A band of fur smugglers am carrying on their illicit trade across the border, and the captain is sent to put an end to this. He does well what he is sent to do—does it thoroughly; and, of course, everything ends happily for him, when he captures the girl of his heart. Louise Lovely also appears in “The Little Grey Mouse,” a charming drama of social climbing.
“THE SHADOW OF LIGHTNING RIDGE.” Tn “The Shadow of Lightning Ridge,” the latest E. J. Carroll Australian superfeature, which is to be screened at the People’s commencing on Thursday next, “Snowy” Baker is given opportunities for the display of daring horsemanship and hair-raising stunts. There is nothing new under the sun, and this applies to motion pictures particularly, but “Snowy"” performs feats as “The Shadow” that have never been seen in any photoplay before An incident that will live long in the memory is his jump on horseback from a cliff sheer through the roof of a hut forty feet below. The sensationalism of the jump is enhanced by the very dramatic reasons for the “Shadow” taking the plunge. There are other thrillers of equal calibre throughout this fast-moving story of a good man’s fall from grace and his ultimate regeneration. “The Shadow of Lightning Ridge” is rich in romance and native humor, and, above all, the story grips with its own strength. It is something more than a vehicle for the great “Snowy” Baker’s prowess. “Lightning Ridge” is a wonderful drama, and enacted as it is in the great open spaces of Australia, it is brimful of action, atmosphere and character. Mr. Wilfred Lucas directed, and Miss Brownie Vernon and Miss- Berenice Vere, the young Australian who has so suddenly stepped into the ranks of the film stars, are in the cast. The box plan is at Hoffmann’s.
