OAONUI FATALITY.
ALL THE BODIES RECOVERED. HEROISM RECOGNISED. The bodies of Munday Mitchell and Peepe Morgan (or Pirani), two of thei three Maoris who were drowned in the boating accident off the coast at Ooanuw on Friday, were recovered on the bea-.iJ yesterday morning, within a quarter of a mile of the scene of the fatality The other body, that of Jimmy Rangi, had been found on Saturday. An inquest was held yesterday afternoon before Mr. T. P. Hughson' (acting coroner), and the following jury: A. Cameron, E. R. Jury, W. C. Green, and G. F. McGregor. Evidence was given by Charlie Warn, W. F. McLeod, and Constable O’Neil), and the finding of the jury was that death was due to accidental drowning. The jury added a rider expressing commendation of Mr. Cleghorn’s action in saving the lives of Waiau and the rescue party, and recommended that the act should be brought under the notice of the proper authorities in order to receive recognition.
