FOOTBALL.
TARANAKI RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A. meeting of the management committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union was held at Stratford during the weekend, when there were present: Messrs. Jas. McLeod (chairman), W. B. Fearon, A. R. Ryder, D. George, A.i Neilson, L. G. Beamish, Jas. Garcia, D. J. Malone (president), R. G. Harkness (treasurer) and R. R. Tyrer (secretary). Messrs. Jas. McLeod, D. J. Malone and G. W. Slade were appointed delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union at Wellington on April Messrs. Jas. McLeod and G. Beamish and the secretary were appointed an executive. In regard to the issue of honorary members' tickets by clubs, it was decided to ask clubs to forward a list of all honorary and as these tickets will admit to all home club matches clubs are to be recommended to make the charge for same not less than 10s.
It was also decided that the admission charge for all senior and first junior matches throughout the province should be Its for men and 6d for ladies and boys (primary school chile.en) to be free.
It was resolved that the fourth grade competition should be confined to players under 18 years, and in the third grade to players under 20 years. • It was resolved to call applications for a secretary at a commencing salary of £75, applications to close on Thursday. Lepperton were granted permission to piay in royal blue jerseys
Patea are to be notified that as their colors are the same as Kaponga they will have to provide other Jerseys than black when they meet Kaponga.
Teams were classified as follows: A: Patea, Hawera, Waimate, Kaponga, Opunake, Stratford, Clifton and Tukapa; B: Gkaiawa, Eltham, Inglewood, Star, Old Bdj?s, Okuto and Rahotu. The chairman intimated'that he was presenting a shield for competition in the junior primary schools competition. Mr. R. Barlow was doing likewise in the 4th grade. The possession of shields for the senior B grade, junior and second junior competitions was a matter that should be considered. It was resolved that nominations for the various competitions close on Thursday, April 7, and the opening day was fixed for Saturday, April 23. Some discussion took place over the appointment of referees, and it was resolved to hold the annual meeting of the Referees’ Association and a conference of referees at Stratford on Friday evening at 7 o’clock at the A. and P. office, when the question of an appointment board will be discussed. SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. Clifton will be represented by the following team in the seven-a-side tournament at Manaia next Saturday: Campbell, G. Taylor, Ross, Colman, Goodwin, P. Hickey and Sherhan.
