KIRKWOOD BEATEN. NINTH IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received April 3, 11.5 p.m. New Yoqk, April 9. Kirkwood and Hagen attracted the gallery during the morning round of the North and South championship, Kirkwood being 7'6 and Hagen 78. In the second round Kirkwood with 78 tied on a total of 154 with Hagen, ten iieores behind Jock Hutchison, who established a competitive record with 69 during the afternoon play. Kirkwood hit fine tee shots down the middle of the fairway, and was well up with his seconds,-but he lacked confidence in putting, missing at least a dozen under eight feet. Hagen putted well, but he was well off at the tees. Received April .3, 11.5 p.m. New York, April 2. Hutchison a Chicago professional, won the golf championship at Pinehurst with a. score of 291. Kirkwood tied with French and Hagen for ninth place with a score of 302. Kirkwood completed the last eighteen holes in 74. He will share in the prizes.—Aus. and N.‘Z» Cable /Assn.
