A BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE. By 3’eleeraph.—Press Association Dunedin, Last Night. The Reid Challenge Cup, for the competitor in the amateur athletic provincial championships scoring. the most points, was won on Saturday by 11. G. Sutherland, a Wellington athlete, with 11 points. The runner-up scored 8. Sutherland reached the Otago record of sft.. 6in. in the high jump, and won the broad leap with 20ft. sin., the hop, step and. jump with 42ft. Ilin., and the pole vault with Bft. Bin. He was beaten in the 440 and 120 yards hurdles. TE KIRI SPORTS. There was a successful meeting and a good attendance at the Te Kiri sports at Mr. S. Agnew’s grounds on Saturday. The appointments were well in hand, and the committee deserve credit for The prompt manner in which the events were ■brought off. The Opunake Band was in attendance, and the programme it submitted addej to the enjoyment of the outing. Results: 120 yards boys’ race, over 12 years.— K. Riley 1, C. Collins 2, F. Coupe ( £2 a side) was won by T. Coupe. 440 yards handicap.—O. Driscoll and R. Ferguson (dead heat) 1: E. 'Machray 3. Returned soldiers’ race, 120 yards.— J. E. Mays I, C. Rye 2, T. Kaye 3. A challenge chop. J. Dodunski v. W. Crawford ( £5 a side) was won by W. Crawford.
