The British Embasky has issued a statement commenting updii the American eommwsion’s report on Ireland, wlrch charges the Grown forces with p. ruetrating atrocities. j lie statement says these reports are entitled to exactly the amount of weight which should be given to any judgment based entirely on exparte evidence, and. that it is biased and wholly misleadwg both as to its general conclusions and in matters of detail. The statement denies that Ireland is a devastated country, bat one of the most prosperous parts of Europe. Jt states that deposits in the joint stock banks have increased by £53,000,000 since 1014. The Sinn Fem votes at the 1918 election were less than half a million out of two million. The commission’s report admits it did not receive any evidence from British sources.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
