Mr. Kumagae has received a cable from Mr. Shimidsu stating that the latter will be unable to come to the United States to compete in the Davis Cup contests. Mr. Kumagae is keenly disappointed, as he had planned a partnership with Mr. Shimidsu in the national doubles championship as well as in the Davis Cup tournament. Mr. Kumagae has cabled to the Japanese Lawn Tennis Club urging them to make a strenuous effort to get permission from Mr. Shimidsu’s employers in Calcutta to give him leave. —Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
