HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated March 29, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Meat.—No material change in market. Chilled beef realising maximum prices, but frozen in large supply at previous quotations. New Zealand light-weight mutton and lamb selling freely at maximum price of 9d and is Id per lb respectively'. Butter.—ln fair demand, but market quiet. Buyers waiting to know price at which Government stock will be offered for sale. Cheese.—Market quiet and easier tendency. Canadian white, £7 10s to- £7 16s per cwt (Is 4d, Is 4%d per lb); colored, £8 to £8 2s cwt (approximately Is 5Jd per lb); New Zealand white, £7 2s to £7 4s per cwt (Is 3d to Is 3£d per lb); colored, £7 18s to £8 2s per cwt "(Is 4%dito Is 5d per lb). Hemp.—Manila market steady, but scarcely any demand. J grade, Janu-ary-March shipment, to March-May shipment, now quoted at £3B per ton, buyers. New Zealand neglected. Nominally unchanged highpoints, spot £45 per ton, March-May shipment £42 per ton, fair £43, £4O per ton respectively. At this week's public sale 4781 bales offered, but met with very little demand, and practically all withdrawn. Wool.—Bradford market continues dull, and values tops, yarn, and piece goods tend downwards. Present quotations for tops are 64’s (merino) 3s 4d. 56’s (super half bred) 2s 3d, 40’s (coarse crossbred), prepared, Is 2Vjd per Ib. Fruit.—Present supply consists chiefly of Oregon apples, which are selling up to £1 2s 6d to £1 4 s per case of 401 b, on account of Easter demand.
