THE ESMONDE CASE.
ARRIVAL AT .VANCOUVER. DETAINED FOR INQUIRY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 31, 5.5 p.m. Vancouver. March 30. The Makura arrived this morning at Victoria. E-smonde did not attempt to land, and officials prevented him addressing sympathiser assembled on the wharf. He says he does not want to return to Ireland, and will resist being forced on board another ehip. He is apparently inclined to remain on the Makura, lighting the exclusion decision. Esmonde states that he was refused a landing at Suva. He says he was robbed of £2OO during the voyage, having only £3 left.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn. Received March 31, 7.30 p.in.
