A UNION’S RIGHTS.

QUESTION- OF REGISTRATION. AN INTERESTING POINT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A peculiar position has arisen in connection with the relations of the City Council and municipal employees. The latter want to discuss with the council an agreement governing wages and general conditions of* employment, and the council declines the request, saying it is impossible to negotiate with the union -since it has not registered under the Arbitration Act. The men claim the union i-s a legally registered body, competent to enter into an agreement and they hold the right, as law-abiding citizens, to join any organisation which they think best fitted to serve their interest. They protest against wnat they describe as an arbitrary refusal, and urgv members' to stand firm on their rights.
