SWIMMING.

A TARANAKI CENTRE. A meeting convened by Mr. R. Day, chairman of the New Plymouth Swimming Club, was held at Stratford yesterday afternoon to discuss the formation of a Taranaki Swimming Centre. Eleyen delegates, representing eight Taranaki Clubs were present, and apologies were received from two others. Mr. Day presided. A provisional committee, consisting of one delegate from each club in Taranaki was formed, and it was unanimously decided to apply to the New Zealand Swimming Association for permission to constitute a Centre for the provincial district of Taranaki. Messrs. Day (New Plymouth), Masters (Stratford), and Grant (Hawera) were appointed an executive to take the necessary steps to secure the formation of the Centre. The visitors -were entertained at af- . ternoon tea by members of the Strat-’ ford Club. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Day, who had undertaken the initial work, concluded the meeting.
