Mrs. Chaplin, mother of Charles Chaplin, the film actor, was temporarily detained by the immigration officials on the ground that she was suffering from mental disorder, but she was permitted to proceed to Los Angeles with Charlie Chaplin’s secretary, if ter bonds were furnished. It is said ‘Mrs. Uhaplin is •uffering from shellshock, due to air raids in England. Charles Chaplin took Si negotiations with Washington more an two years ago to obtain permission to bring his mother to Los Angeles, and declared die would gladly spend his entire fortune if he could cure her disease.—Aus and N.Z.
