The meeting was not open the Press, but it is understood that the matter under discussion was the ques< tion of dealing with the output of butM ter, aud particularly as regards the pried after to-morrow (March 31), when ths contract made with the Imperial Government for the purchase of the butteil will expire, and the dairy farmers wili again have control of the outputs ofi their factories.

The department requires a certificate from every merchant, grocer or other retailer, stating the number of pounds of butter in stock unsold at closing time on| March 31. The factory from which this’ butter was originally purchased will be ( treated as having it on hand, and n# subsidy will be paid.
