EGMONT DOG TRIALS.
SOME SPLENDID WORK. The annual trials in connection with the Egmont Sheep Dog Trial Club were held on Wednesday and Thursday at Mr. Walter Parker’s property, O-peke, when there was a fair attendance of spectators on both days. There were large entries in each class, but so excellent were the arrangements that the last event was completed early bn the second afternoon. The work of many of the dogs was exceptionally good, and they were so close that the judge (Mr. Andrew Hunter), had a difficult task to sort out the winners, but his decisions were given promptly and were in every case well received. The club is specially catering for novibes and youthful shepherds, the entries from whom were very satisfactory, whilst the work showed great promise. The sheep were a fine lot, and the club is greatly indebted to Mr. L. Mathis fox* providing them, and also to 'Messrs. Parker and Williams for allowing the use of their properties. The catering was controlled by a committee of ladies, and was of a high standard. Mr. J. F. Tiddy, as secretary, had complete arrangements made, being ably assisted by Mr. J. Lloyd.)
