TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday and Friday, the 16th and 18th insts. Present: Messrs. G. H. Bullard (chairman), N. R. Cleland, J. Heslop, and J. H. W. Martin. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. C. J. Ryan. The following applications for land were approved:— G. A. Pugh, section 2S, Huatoki Settlement; Wm. Tamarapa, section 9, block 13, Cape; G. H. Cassey. section 88 and lIS, Tawhiwhl; C. R. Borchart, section 15S, Huatoki; J. Curry, sections IS and 3S, Marco Settlement; S. E. Harwood, section lOS, Tawhiwfcl. James Maxwell’s application for section 43, block 9, Cape, was refused. The following applications to transfer were approved:—Sub. 5, Ngatitara Block, Thomas Bishop to F. A. and C. H. Bishop; section 550, town of Jiew Plymouth, K. C. Akers to R. J. Deane; section 202, town of New Plymouth, H. J. Blanchett, to T. A. Berrldge. The transfer of section 3, block 3, Waro, from H. H. Meyer to J. T. Harris was deferred for ranger’s report. The following transfers were recommended for Minister’s approval:—Section 1, block 1, Pioplotea West, T. S. Tippetts to P. W. Boult; section 5, block 2, Tangitu, S. P. Good to .1. A. Inghami; section 3, block 7, Totoro, John Monk to W. A. .Gauntlett; section 9, block 12, Mimi, Jack Yarrall to P. C. McGregor. Resolved to offer sections 2,3, 4, 5 and 7, Mangaehu Village, for sale by public auction at a price to be fixed. Resolved to obtain the consent of the Gov-ernor-General to class unsold sections in the township of Huiroa as suburban land and sell them in groups at auction. Resolved to cancel James Good's lease of section 30;- block 14, Cape, and forfeit deposit. Resolved to rescind resolution of October, 1911, and allow the Whangamomona County Council to -expend thirds on metalling, instead of paying interest on loan. Resolved to appoint arbitrators in the matter of renewal of the leases of the following sections:—Section 32, Tarurutangi district, E. D. Ansford; sections 3 (sub. 1) block 3, Opunake, sub. 30, Ngatikahumate block, subdivisions 21, 22, 12, 24 and 25, Ngatitara block, E. Maxwell; part section 10, Manganui district, J. B. Richards; sub. 2, section W, town belt of New Plymouth, sections 520, 521, 1080, K pts. 1060, 1081, 1082, 1101, 1102, 1121, 1141, pts. 1102, 1103, 1121, .1122, and section 1123, pts. 1062, 1063, 1082, 1083, 1142, 1158, 1160, 1183, 1184, 1201, 1202, New Plymouth, lot A, part section W, town belt of New Plymouth, and section 141, Huia district, F. P. Corkill. Proposals for the expenditure of thirds and fourths by the Eltham County Council were approved.

Sixty-eight applications for advances under the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Acts were dealt with as follows :—Three applications for additional grants for building were recommended ; 9 applications for building grants were recommended, 1 refused and 3 deferred; 1 application for a building site was refused ; 3 applications for house properties were ; refused; 4 applications for farms were refused and 1 deferred; 29 applications for stock were recommended, three refused, and four deferred;, one application to clear mortgage was refused; 3 applcatiogs to transfer were recommended and 1 deferred; 2 applicatkris to sub-divide were deferred to enable the various parties to come to ,f )me art I'AagfmtLt.
