WAR TROPHIES EXHIBITION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, March 21. In view of the State Government failing to arrange for the exhibition of war trophies, an appeal is suggested to provide funds for a temporary building. HURRICANE IN THE ISLANDS. Melbourne,_ March 22. A violent hurricane swept the Islands of Edward and Pellew groups in the Gulf of Capentaria, and caused great damage. COCKATOO ISLAND. Sydney, March 22. Mr. Poynton stated that a committee had been appointed to conduct a special inquiry into the administration of Cockatoo Island dock. He declined to disclose the nature of the inquiry, but admitted that serious charges had been, made. THE SOUTHERN CROSS. U Sydney, March 22. The Marine Court found that [the Southern Cross, on September 14, struck Reid Rocks southward of King Island whilst endeavoring to reach safety. Owing to a fire below she broke up rapidly.
