LABOR ERA HINTED. REFORMING HOUSE OF LORDS. PARLIAMENT ASKED TO ACT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 22, 5.5 p.m. London, March 21. The House of Lords accepted Lord Melbourne’s motion urging the Government to introduce a measure reforming the House of Lords at the earliest poslible moment. Lord Seibourne said if the Labor Party converted a majority of the people of the country it had a perfect right to carry out its revolutionary programme under the Parliament Act. I-iord seconded. Lord Haldane said the only way Democracy could be driven in the paths of revolution was by the powers of the House of Lords. It was putting the cart before the horse to make proposals without finding out what would commend itself to the Labor Party. Lord Curson said a committee of the Cabinet had been considering the reconstruction of the House of Lords. It was a gigantic task, equivalent to remodelling the constitution country. He hoped next session the Gov< mt would introduce a measure whk . would have backing inside and outside of Parliament. That was essential to success.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
