PACIFIC CABLES.
A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 20, 5.5 p.m. Washington, March 18. The international communications conference has reported a tentative agreement whereby the United States will-re-ceive the Pacific cable from Cuam to Yap and the Atlantic cable from Brest to New York, Japan obtaining the exGerman cables from Yap to Shanghai and Yap to the Dutch East Indies. Japan insists upon operating the Yap end of the Cuam-Yap cable until Yap’s status is disposed of. It is understood that an official announcement awaits France’s assent.— Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
