HOMING PIGEON CLUB.

‘ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Homing Pigeon Club was held this week, when tl?e report and balance-sheet for 1920 were submitted and discussed. The report showed that the club was in a very satisfactory position, considering the many drawbacks the meqjbers had to contend with during the flying season, through shortage of supply o’ suitable p£as for racing birds, insecure tenancies of properties occupied, and other causes detrimental to the foundation of successfu- homing pigeon keeping. The financial position of the club is healthy, the bal-ance-sheet showing cash in hands of treasurer at £lO 8s Bd. It was proposed to secure additional hampers and trophies for old bird races during the coming season. Two new members were proposed and duly elected. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as followsPatron, Mr. Geo. Corney; president, Mr. F. Julian; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. Whittle, J. Hurle, V. H Beale, Dr. Blackley, and Captain Allen; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. J. Moverley; general committee, all members of the club; management committee, members dispatching birds in club hampers. The chairman referred to ti e valuable assistance rendered to the club by the railway I officials in forwarding birds for liberation, and to the Press for reporting results of races, etc. Votes of thanks were carried unanimously. In .view of the forthcoming Poultry Show, members are requested to fly their 1920-21 birds in order to have birds eligible for the distance classes, as 4 certificate from the club must accompany entry form The programme for young bird races was left for the secretary to arrange, the first race to be from Eitham to-day.
