GOLF.
TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. _L_ OPENS NEXT SATURDAY. \ Ti e Taranaki golf tournament opens at New Plymouth next Saturday, and will be continued on the following Monday and Tuesday. The amateur championship in conjunction with which a teauns’ match and medai handicap wih be played, commences on the first day (Easter Saturday), and the qualifying round of 36 holes will be played (16 to qualify). On Monday bogey and medal handicaps figure on the programme, in addition to the second and third rounds of tte champion* ship. Tuesday will be the concluding day, and a four-ball bogey handicap and bogey handicap, each of 18 holes, will be played. A continuous putting competition is also to be conducted. Each event carries a liberal prize. Entries, to be made through club secretar ies, close with the hon. secretary to the tournament. P.O. Box 141, New Plymouth, on Tuesday.
