The Chicago Courts dismissed indictments against baseball players charged with conspiring to allow their opponents to win the 1920 world series. • On the application of the ’ State Prosecutor, who announced that the State’s case had collapsed owing to the repudiation of confessions by players, the trial of gamblers who allegedly bribed the players has been indefinitely postponed. The prosecution’s action caused amazement in sports circles in America, who are anxious to clear away ail suspicion attached to professional baseball.—Aus.-N Z. Cable Assn.
