THE MISTAKE OF ROME.

A WARNING TO ENGLAND. PERIL OF EMIGRATION. " London, Feb. 4. Mr. W. Hope-Jones, an Eton master, whose lectures on eugenics are creating much interest in England, states: “The whole world is asking is England going the way Rome, and if we have repeated the mistakes of Rome. If England were bled ofVhe wrong sort of man no, diplomacy or fleet of Dreadnoughts could save her. “Immigration, wisely handled, may become an enormous influence for the improvement and expansion of the Empire, but the stupidest thing is to take the pick of England’s men and send them overseas, and leave the women behind. A large proportion of the emigrants remain unmarried and die childless, and the question of the emigration of women is one of the most vital the Empire has to face.”
