BAND CONTEST.
YESTERDAY’S RESULTS. By TeleCTftDh.—Press Association Nelson, March 17. The B grade contest was won by the Eighth South Canterbury Mounted Rifles Band with 282 points. Westport Garrison and Gisborne City 278 tied for second place, Palmerston North Municipal 269 fourth, Greymouth Citizens 266 fifth, Christchurch Tramways 257 sixth, Nelson National Reserve 246 seventh, Ninth Hawke’s Bay and Masterton Municipal 236 eighth, First Canterbury Regimental 221 tenth. B flat cornet solo: B. Wills (Invercargill Hibernians) 99 points, F. Lound (Marton) 96, R. A. Wills (Invercargill)’ 95, W. H. Osborne (Bth South Canterbury) 94. The judge said a very fine standard had been reached, better than for some time. He regarded the winner as a marvel. There were twentyone competitors. Flugel Horn Solo. —R. Ward (Christchurch Tramways) 81, B C. Johanson (Palmerston North) 74, J. Walker (South Canterbury) 68.
