They were in charge of Mi. Taylor, headmaster at Whangamomona. Miss Alice Wilson, organising secretary for the St. Mary’s Homes, Otahuhu, Auckland, addressed a meeting of those interested in the work, at the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. Miss Wilson gave a most interesting address, and at the conclusion of her remarks an appeal was made for subscriptions and met with a hearty response. All present became members of the St. Mary’s Homes’ Association, and Mrs. Sole was appointed as local secretary. THE KING’S THEATRE, STRATFORD ‘WHY CHANGE YOUR WIFE?” TO-NIGHT. Photoplay fans who recall the luxurious beauty of Gloria Swanson in “Male and Female,” will hardly recognise her in the opening scenes of the ParamountArtcraft Royalty masterpiece, “Why Change Your Wife?” which will be the attraction at the King’s Theatre tonight. Miss Swanson has the- role of a too wifely wife, who neglects her duty for her home, wears unbecoming clothes and horn rimmed spectacles, and can’t keep her husband home at night. Later, however, after friend husband, played by Thomas Meighan, has wandered off with a designing siren, she re-
alises what has lost him, and forthwith blossoms like a rose in the bewitching Gloria as we usually know her. “Why Change Your Wife?” is a striking story of young married life, bv William de Mille, produced by Cecil de Mille on a luxurious style and against a background of rare beauty. This- picture will be screened for one night only. The box plan is now open at Wilson Bros,, stationers and printers, Broadway, Stratford.
Redeem the long-standing promise and have the photograph taken at McAllister’s Studio. We are always ready, day or night; no delay; no waiting either in taking or finishing, at this studio.
