AMERICA AND GREECE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Received March 10, 12.5 a.m. Washington, March 14. The United States’ recognition of King Constantine of Greece is expected shortly. The fact that the present Government will recognise all the obligations incurred by the Venizelos Government i° understood to have caused the withdrawal of the United States’ Objections to recognition. Greece has already made an earnest plea for the payment of the fourth instalment of the United States loan of 48,000.000 dollars to Greece ae a war credit.—Aus.-N.Z. •CUble Assn. JRANCE REJECTS COMMUNISTS. Received March 15, 5.5 pm. Paris, March 14. By-elections in the Seine Department, Vhich i* a Socialist stronghold, resulted in the return of two Government candidates, who defeated two Communist by an absolute majority or 64,864 votes. Socialists apparently abstained from supporting the Communists. Aus.-NZ. Cable Assn. WAR ON COMMUNISTS. Received March 15, 5.5 pm. Rome, March 14. The dead body of Piecoli, a wellknown Communist deputy, was found in a tunnel near Peggio. Other extremist deputies were also maltreated, Matteotti was kidnapped and is still imprisoned, while Agnine and Donati, two other Socialist deputies, were waylaid at Modona and beaten. The outrages seem to be due to a faseiseti organisation of ultra patriots, whose object w to suppress the Communists by intimidation and violence. —Aus.-N-Z. Cable
