HANDWRITING COMPETITION.

CENTRAL SCHOOL SUCCESS. The awards have just come to band In connection with British rhyming trades alphabet handwriting competitions for 1920, conducted among the North Taranaki primary and private schools. The Central School (New Plymouth) has been conspicuously successful, the awards being as follow: Standards 5 to 7.—E. Rawlinson 1 and stiver medal, G. Huttmance 2, G. Adams 3, B. Coleman 4, M. Milne 5, V. Mountford 6 (all Central School). Standards 3 and 4.—Eira Honeyfield 1 and silver medal, Gladys Smale 2, Cecil Smith 8. Theo Derby 4, Lily Clow 5 (all Central), and Ida Fischer (Rahotu) 6. Satndards 1 and 2.—Vincent Bond (Central) 1, Florence Chivers (Fitzroy) 2, Thelma Sissons (Westown) 3, Roy Bennett (Lincoln) 4, Winnie Bridgeman (Okato) 5. Avery's Special.—Town schools: Standards 5 to 7, E. Rawlinson (Cental); Standards 3 and 4, Elsie Goldswprthy (Fitzroy); Standards 1 and 2, Edith Garcia (Westown). For other schools: Standards 5 to 7, Kenneth Middlqmiss (Lincoln) ; Standards 3 and 4, William Haslett (Lincoln) ; Standards 1 and 2, Ida Hudson (Lincoln).' Patterson and Co.’s specials.—Standards 5 to 7, E. Rawlinson (Central) ; Standards 3 and 4, Eisa Honeyfield (Central); Standards 1 and 2, Vincent Bond (Central). The two silver medals offered were awarded to pupils of the Central School.
