With the object of providing a safe seat for Sir Arthur Griffith-Boscawen who, as Minister for Agriculture, was recently defeated at a by-election, Col. Dennis Boles has resigned the Taunton seat. Mr. James Lunnon, organising secretary of agricultural workers, will oppose Sir Griffith-Boscawen—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A DISASTROUS* FIRE. New York, March 12. The Chicago Tribune’s Shanghai correspondent states that silks, rice and oil valued at six million dollars were destroyed in a disastrous warehouse fire, which is still raging and will probably take days to extinguish.
