PETROGRAD THE CENTRE. KRONSTADT IN FLAMES. FAILURE OF WORLD REVOLT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 14, 5.5 p.m. London, March 13. The Times’ Kovno correspondent states the revolution is spreading in the Ukraine and southern Siberia. Petrograd apparently is still the storm centre. The rebels are fighting strongly? ' It is variously reported that they have established a social revolutionary committee in communication with Kronstadt, and also that the workers have proclaimed a general strike, demanding the convocation of a properly constituted national assembly. Kronstadt was shelled throughout Friday from Krasnoyagorka, Petrograd, and Oranienbaum, and it is still burning. Deserters from Krasnoyagorka describe the Reds’ Chinese as compelling soldiers to man half demolished defences by threatening to turn machine guns upon them. Kovno advices state that the Moscow Sovieters resolved that as a world revolution is not now maturing relations with foreign capitalist States are indispensable, even at the sacrifice of their fundamental principles. Riga advices state that Tonchatoffski has been relieved of his command owing to three serious reverses. Trotsky has personally taken command of the Kronstadt front, with headquarters at Sestroretzk, west of Petrograd. The Communists fear fresh attacks and armored trains are patrolling the coast between Petrograd and Sestroretzk. A cable from Narva states Kronstadt has food sufficient for four months • and ammunition enough for some years. Victor Tchernoff, head of the revolutionary committee, has arrived at Reval. He is a former president of the constitutional assembly formed after the first revolution. News of the Ukraine rising, received from Poland, states that the Ukrainian general Machno, in command of the operations, captured Ekaterinoslav, and the troops are advancing towards Crimea. Members of Soviet committees taken at Elisabetgrad were shot'or hanged.— Times Service. REBELS FIGHTING STRONGLY. EXTENSION OF THE REVOLT. PLOTS TO MURDER LENIN. Received March 14, 5.5 p.m. , London, March 13. Though the reports of the Russian devolution continue to be contradictory it seems clear that the rebels are fighting strongly. Reports received in Paris state that Jhe revolt has extended to white Russia and the Ukraine, where bands of antiBolsheviks hold sway. Advices from Moscow state that numerous plots to murder Lenin resulted in the formation of an inner Red life guard of three thousand picked Communists. Armed visitors to the Kremlin, who were arrested, admitted they had instructions from the central organisation for the liberation of to murder Soviet members. —United Service. STRIKE AT PETROGRAD. THE REVOLUTION SPREADING. Copenhagen, March 13. A general strike is in operation in Petrograd. The strikers expelled Soviet officials from the offices of the Soviet and formally declared war against Kronstadt. Reports from Helsingfors state that 150 Bolshevik commissaries have been crucified at Tsaritzin, while Soviet rule has been overthrown in the Kiev, Tarnbox and Orel districts.
