In the evening the visitors and the local bowlers foregathered at the Kawaroa Park bungalow at a smoke concert. Mr. J. D. Sole presided over a large attendance. After the usual loyal toast, Mr. Mclntosh proposed “The Dominion of ' New Zealand Bowling Association." In doing so he recalled the old days before the North and South Islands vfere brought together under one head

and under one control. Their present visit to Taranaki was under the auspices of the Dominion Association. This association brought together old friends and helped to make new ones. In short, the association stood for sociability.

Mr. Alan Smart, the only member of ‘the Dominion Association present responded. He thought that the dividing of New Zealand into bowling centres a very good idea. He mentioned that with 33 clubs v and a membership of 300 IF members, held the tonor of being the largest bowling centrd in the Dominion. He had been on the Dominion Council for three years, a position which he had retained largely owing to the support of good friends in Auckland. The chairman, in proposing the toast of “Our Visitors,” said that all the pleasure of the tour not on the visitors' side, for Taranaki boilers enjoyed the Aucklanders’ play every bit as much, and were eagerly looking forward to their own visit to Auckland next year. Mr. Coultman, manager of the Auckland team, said that although they had played at Hamilton, Palmerston North and Wanganui before 'coming here, the real tour started in Taranaki, where they had had kindness heaped on kindness. He further commented on the excellence of the greens in Taranaki. He had been bowling for 25 years, and had play» ed in the big centres, yet he had come across nj*greens to equal the ones Jn Taranaki. He wished they had more greens so that the pairs championship could be decided in such a centre as New Plymouth. He especially thanked motor-car owners, the ladies who had provided refreshments, and the owners of private grounds for their hospitality. Mr. Mcßoble, who proposed the “Taranaki Bowling Centre,” referred to the excellent -standard of play in Taranaki, and to the sportsmanship of the players. The chairman, in replying, said that what they lacked in numbers they made up in enthusiasm. He mentioned that the clubs in the Taranaki Centre numbered 15. dther toasts proposed were: “Kindred Sports” (Mr. Lambic—Mr. Honeyfleld), and “The Press” (proposed by Mr. C. Carter). The pleasure of the evening was greatly added to by a number of Items rendered by a concert party, consisting of Messrs. A. L. North, F. Hooker, W. P. Okey, A. B. MacDonald (the Melody Four), R. B. MacDonald, A. Btooker and B. Hartman (recitations), with Mr. Harold Morey as accompanist. FINAL TEST TO-DAY. The third and final test takes places on the Fitzroy green to-day, and the visitors leave for home by the Rarawa to-night.
