MARANATHA MARANATHA.

SIGNS OF CHRIST’S COMING. the Church sign. There is perhaps no greater name in English history than that of Sir Isaac Newton. But it i's not generally known concerning this great and good man that he was a diligent Bible student and an exponent of Second Advent truth on the lines we. try to- set forth week by week. It is quite two and a-half centuries ago since h? made the remarkable prediction, ‘‘about the time of the end in all probability a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the prophecies and insist upon their literal interpretation amid much clamor and opposition.” No more striking thing is taking place to-day than the large number of men who have been raised up. who have been giving special attention to prophetic truth, and are insisting upon the literal fulfilment bf the prophecies in the Old and New Testament. There is nothing remarkable in the fact that they have believed the Scrip Ares to be the Word of God, every jot and tittle; but it is remarkable that they have given themselves to Bible study in an a»e when the whole trend has been in opposition to Bible study, and when our shools and universities have discounted Bible study, and especially the prophetic truths of the Bible. The Second Advent Conference we have just held in Wellington is proof of this. We do not doubt but that God has specially raised up and qualified the four men who were the chief speakers. Rev. Joseph Kemp, with his great natural gifts, the 'Revs. Wilfred Williams and W. Lamb, also richly endowed with natural and spiritual gifts, and the scholarship of Dean Weeks, an M.A., LL.D., and 8.D., gave convincing force to all their utterances. These men declare that the Book of Daniel contains the exact schedule of the governmental affairs of this world from 606 B.C. until the present moment, the Rev. Lamb especially urging his convictions that we are nearer the collapse of present governmental systems than most people seem to realise. May God awaken us all. “O earth, earth, earth, hear the Word of the Lord.”—Jeremiah xxii., 29. Any who would\ like the Rev. W. Lamb’s paper, the Advent Herald, can obtain it if they will spend 4s (a year’s subscription) with their names and addresses to Box 258, G.P.0., Wellington.
