TARANAKI EXPORTS.
VALUABLE PRODUCE SHIPMENTS. . PATEA’S CHEESE RECORD. Some interesting figures concerning the! export of produce from Taranaki are| given in the latest return issued by thei Government Statistician. From the port of New Plymouth 5551 cwt. of butter, valued at £76,983, were exported last January, while for the twelve months ended January 31, 1921, the butter export amounted to 24,195 cwt., valued at £242,887. For 1920 the figures were 41,252 cwt. valued at £373.280, and for 1919 they were 46,166 cwt. valued at £391,822. From Pa tea the figures are: 1921. 8063 cwt. valued at £70,585; 1920, 3546 cwt. valued at £32,045; 1919, 3289 cwt. valued at £25,022. In cheese the value of New Plymouth’s exports during January was £176,929, and that of Patea was £170,059. The yearly values for the two ports are: 1921, New Plymouth £937,160, Patea £1,644,167; 1920, New Plymouth £1,610,071, Patea £2,005,335; 1919, New Plymouth, £513,671, Patea £1,158,039. A feature of the cheese figures is that for each year Patea lends in the Dominion.
