THE SUGAR MARKET.
CARGOES RELEASED FROM SHIPS. SOUTH ISLAND SUPPLIES. By Tdegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. An important statement regarding the sugar position was made to-day by the Hon. E. P. Lee (Alinteter for Industries and Commerce). The Alinister said the settlement of the shipping trouble would brin; relief to mtiny parts of the Dominion which were short of sugar. The steamer Kaura, which had been in the stream for some days, was now discharging a cargo of sugar made up a*s follows: For \\ ellington 215 tons, Lyttelton <320, Timaru 106, Oamaru 44, Dunedin 300, Nelson 106, and l2O. As Nelson was almost without sugar the consignment would, if possible, be forwarded to-day. The steamer Waitomo,whose movements have been affected by the shipping difficulty, has .300 tons for Lyttelton and 200 tons for ports further south. The Afanuka, which took 300 tons of sugar back to Sydney last trip, should bring a much larger quantity on her second trip.
