WELFARE LEAGUE.

NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH. A meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Welfare League was held last night, Mr. A. Goldwater presiding. The principal business was the consideration of the report of the delegate to the annual conference (Mr. G. R. Weir). The report dealt extensively with the business transacted at Wellington, and the meeting endorsed the opinions expressed at the conference regarding the league’s activities in opposing a revolutionary element which was organising in New Zealand to undermind stable government. Speakers commented on the general apathy of citizens in talking part in affairs of vital interest to them, and pointed out that as the next elections would bring forth serious elements it behoved all citizens to see that their names were on the roll, and that their vote was exercised. On the adoption of the report a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Weir. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. Goldwater; vice-president. Mr. W. J. Penn; committee, Messrs. C. H. Croker, S. W. Shaw. P. Stainton, A. B. Gibson, G. Fraser, R. W. D. Robertson, and C. C. Gilbert; treasurer, Mr. J. Austin; auditor, Mr. V.
