THE PRICE OF WHEAT.
MINISTER ANNOUNCES RATES. PRICE OF BREAD UNCHANGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Hon. W. Nos worthy (Minister for Agriculture) made the following statement in regard to the price of wheat:—* “The question of the maximum prices to be paid for the present wheat crop was considered by Cabinet, when it was definitely decided to pay the following lates: 7s fid a bushel, f.o.b. southern ports, Tuscan and similar varieties, 7s 9d Hunters, 8s Pearl, with increments of three farthings per month, commencing on May 1. The request for a guarantee for the 1921-22 season was also dealt with by Cabinet, and it was agreed i to guarantee the following minimum ss 6d bushel, f.o.b. southern ports,’ Tuscan and similar varieties, 5» 9d Hunters, 6s 3<T Pearl, with increments the same as this year.” AV ith regard to ,the price of flour and bread, Mr. Nosworthy said these would remain as at present until such time as it was seen fit to make a public announcement. The question of re-grad-ing the different qualities of wheat would be gone into by him at an early date.
