TARANAKI SHOW.
OPENING TO-DAY. FINE EXHIBITION PROMISED. To-day the forty-sixth annual show conducted by the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society will open on the grounds at Waiwakaiho, and the ex-hibition-gives promise of being a particularly good one, strong support having been received. In dairy cattle the show will have a big feature, provincial and outside exhibitors having entered stock, and in other sections there will also be strong competition. Ring events will provide some interesting contests, and these are always popular with the public. Among the side shows, of which there are quite a number, may be mentioned Captain Greenhaigles’ varied collection of reptiles and also the clever marksmanship of his daughter. Mr Verne’s live teddy bear should appeal to the children, whilst Mr. Bert Vinsen’s freak fowl, half hen and half rooster, is also well worthy of a visit. People’s,Day to-morrow will no doubt attract a large attendance to the grounds, and the grand parade alone should make an interesting sight. The Citizens’ Band have been engaged to render a programme of music during the day.
