GUESSING COMPETITIONS.
AT HAWERA SHOW. The results of the weight-guessing competitions at the A. and P. Show were as follows: Fat cow.—First prize, Rotoscillo cabinet drop-head sewing machine, value £l5; second prize, £2; third prize, £l. Thomas McWhirter (Eltham) 1, J. Johnstone (Hawera) 2, G. E. .lago (Stratford) 3. All three guessed the correct weight, namely 6781 b, and their positions were determined by ballot. Sheep.—First prize, £2; second, £1; third, 10s.• L Wickham (Kaponga), 275%1b, 1; E. Mcßeth (Nonnanby), 278%1b, 2; Jas. O'Sullivan (Matapu), 2791 b, 3. The total weight ofthe three sheep was 2771 b, and the individual weights were 1061 b, 90%1b, and 80%lb. Plg..First prize, £2; second, £l. C. Kneebone (Hawera), 5321 b, 1; F. N. Bell (Kakaramea), 530%1b, 2. The correct weight was 5311/jlb. The highest guess for the cow was 24641 b, and the lowest 3371 b. Tie highest guesser for the pig apparently regarded 9 as a lucky number and gave the weight as 99991 b.
