The Manchester police have devised an elaborate scheme for thwarting Sinn Fein incendiaries. Town and agricultural districts are patrolled by police in motor cars and motor cycles, the occupants being armed, and they are instructed to challenge pedestrians and motorist*, and detain any suspicious people.
