The fact that a contract has been let for the construction of a ferro-concrete bridge over the Wairoa river was referred to by Mr. R. Hornblow, Mayor of Dargaville, at the annual meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. The bridge, he said, would be «a quarter of a mile in length, and would, cost £43,833. It would give the people of Dargaville direct access to 100,000 acres of land capable of carrying one beast to the acre. He thanked the chamber for the assistance it had given the Northern Wairoa residents in this matter, as with, out it he doubted whether they would have succeeded in getting the improvegiants \lready had.—Herald,
