THE FAILURE OF JURY CASES. PROBABLE AMENDMENT TO LAW. (By .Wire. —Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. The Minister for Justice stated today, in answer to a question, that he would have to consider the situation created by the apparent refusal of some juries to convict persons charged with being bookmakers. He had noted what had occurred and the comments- of Judges, but nothing could be done during the coming short session of Parliament. Any amendment of the law that might be required in order to secure the proper enforcement of tiie will of Parliament with, respect to bookmakers would have to be made later in the year.
