EIRE BRIGADES’ CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Associatioff, Napier, Feb. 28, The forty-second annual meeting of the United Eire Association commenced in Napier to-day, Superintendent G. CRIMINAL YOUTHS. ’ Auckland, Feb. 28 In the Police Court John Aubrey Rodgers aged 15 and Arthur Alvven Nicholson aged 19, who started from Timaru on New Year’s Day and committed theft* at Ashburton, Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Wanganui, .were convicted and sentenced to two years’ probation, to be escorted back to tfimaru and to pay for the stolen goods, Nicholson £l5 and Rodgers £O. Mr. Massey is informed that the Blackball Coal Co. has agreed to accept Henderson’s apology for the words used to the deputy Anderson, and to reinstate I Henderson in his former position. I The tribunal expressed the opinion ! that it would be unwise to legislate dealI ing with the dismissal of workmen from mines, but mine-owners and union officials recognised the need of covering this question in the industrial agreement.
