ATHLETICS.
CLIFTON FOOTBALL CLUB’S SPORTS. Athletes have shown their appreciation of the action of the Clifton Football Club in offering substantial prize money in no uncertain manner, as the record entries received in the various running and cycling events show, all the best men in the province having entered. From the interest manifested throughout North Taranaki there is certain to be a large attendance of the general public. Sports lovers can rely on a splendid afternoon’s entertainment, as the officials of the club are all keen and capable men, who have made complete arrangements to ensure smooth running of the programme, the events in which will be carried out to schedule time. There will, therefore, be some event in progress all the time, without any of those delays that sometimes mar sports gatherings, The lengthy programme will be completed in time to enable patrons who so wish to catch the afternoon train for the .south. The music is in the hands of the Waitara Orchestra of nine instruments, and visitors will find the programme a treat in itself.
