• WAIRARAPA MEETING. TARANAKI MEN'S SUCCESS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. \ Carterton, Feb. 26. | The annual rifle shooting meeting of i the Wairarapa Association commenced on Saturday at Papawai (Greytown), in glorious weather. There -was no wind { till the afternoon, and then it did not greatly affect the marksmen, the only disadvantage being a jlancing mirage. Two hundred and fifty riflemen are competing, including 100 tyros. Before shooting every rifle was tested for the trigger test. Two possibles were registered—by Eric Ballinger (Petone) in the Auckland match, and by Cansley (Thames) in the Wellington match, 600 yards. The Wellington match was completed, but the scores were not made up.
