TARANAKI SHOW.

GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED. The office of the Taranak; Agricultural and Pastoral Society was a busy place on Saturday, which was the closing day i for entries for the annual show to be held at New Plymouth on March 9 and 10. v, Although it is too early yet to make an exact comparison with last year’s figures, competition will be very strong in most of the sections. One striking feature, in looking over the entry forms, is that some of the bigger breeders, who for past years have exhibited very extensively, have this year, for various reasons, cut down considerably the number; but, fortunately, their places have been taken by the smaller man, who has acquired the taste for showing, and he has sent along his one or two pedigree animals. This signifies that the farmer generally is recognising the value of pedigree stock in his herd. Jerseys again are to predominate in numbers, with Friesiahs holding second place. Ayrshires will have some good quality stock on show, as also will the Shorthorns. Pigs are stronger than hitherto, and sheep are up to former years. Horses and pony entries have come in exceedingly well, but it is difficult to make any exact comparison just yet, as many known entries are not yet to hand Further entries will be received up to to-morrow evening.
