MARANATHA MARANATHA.
SIGN'S OF CHRIST’S COMING. THE CHURCH SIGN. The most deadly attack in the past: against the authority and accuracy of . the Scriptures have been by highlyplaced ecclesiastics. We remember . somewhat the great consternation which was made when Bishop Colenso published his rationalistic criticisms regarding the Old Testament Scriptures. It is remarkable, however, that the Spirit of God has always raised up a standard against all attacks against the Word of God. When people were saying that there was no exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt and no desert wanderings, what happened? The Director-General of the British Ordnance Survey Department above all others was moved to take certain action. He appointed certain Royal Engineer officers and distinguished men of science to explore the Arabian desert and to follow the route (mark this) as nearly as possible taken by Moses and the Is- , raelites of old. They carried this out and published their report in 1872, which states: “We have found that the na- , tural route Egypt to Sinai accords ex- ■ actly with the account given in the ■ Bible, in these conclusions all the members of the expedition are agreed.” In . the pulpits of these days, much which stands for and bears the name of “ChrisI tian” is not only tainted with legalism and materialism, but bears the distinct mark of “the Serpent.” Against this the Spirit of God is working, as there never was a time when such strong testimony is abroad. “For the Son of Man cometh at an hour when ye thinketh not.” Luke XII., 40. We would urge all who can to attend the Conference gatherings f/om 17th to 27th February (D.V.) in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, Wellington. The Revs. W. Lamb, of Sydney, Joseph W. Kemp, of Auckland, and Dr. Weeks, I Dean of Nelson, are well qualified to j truth. j
