MARKET REPORT.
TARANAKI MOVEMENTS. VERY LITTLE CHANGE. Very little change has been noticed in price movements during the past week. The trouble on the waterfront has not made any appreciable difference locally, and no doubt the majority of traders can carry on -with little or no inconvenience, and are quite willing to forego transhipments from Wellington so long as stability is again restored. Benzine and Kerosene.—'Both, these lines have dropped Is a ease* in sympathy with the improvement in -the exchange rate. With this reduction the price for benzine by direct shipment in the middle of March will be in the v-icinity of/34s Gd a case. (Flour. —There is a temporary shortage at present, owing to quite a number of mills having closed down pending supplies of new wheat. The Corinna is due to leave Lyttelton to-day with a shipment, but this vessel may be held up owing to the trouble on the waterfront. Oats. —Australian oats for this season’s planting are held up at Dunedin owing to the strike, and no doubt this will seriously inconvenience many growers. Icing Sugar.—We understand small quantities are coming to hand fr»m time to time, but the quantity is nothing like enough to meet requirements. A shipment of sugar arrived here on Tuesday last, and this relieved the shortage somewhat. Potatoes. —The price of the Waikato potatoes will no doubt advance from now on as the season is drawing to a close. Southern potatoes should be on the local market in a few weeks now, and from reports received it is stated the crop is a good one.
