CLIFTON FOOTBALL CLUB SPORTS. The great revival that has taken place in all branches of sport is nowhere more noticeable than in athletic competitions. For proof of this one has only to note the entries for the athletic sports that are being held at tl:e Catnp Reserve, Waitara, under j the auspices of the Clifton Football Club on Thursday next. Fields ranging from 28 in the 100 yards to 23 in the half-mile, have been nominated for the various running events, easily constituting a record for class and quality, whilst the cycling events have drawn 25 of the best riders of the province. Patrons are therefore assured of a good day’s sport, for the officials of the club have made complete arrangements for the conduct of the gathering, and it is intended to run the last event off in ample time to enable spectators for the south to catch the evening train home.
