HAWERA CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hawera Club was held on Tuesday night. The annual report stated: Your committee has been occupied for same time In endeavouring to obtain an 18-hole course, as the present 9-hole course is too small to accomodate a number of players, and it is hoped that with tte increased popularity of the gam§> the membership will be greatly increased. Mr. Tonks has kindly given the club permission to pay over lands adjoining the present course, enabling an 18-hole course to be formed. The course is now being prepared, and will be ready for play at the opening of the season. Election \of officers resulted as follows : Patron, Mr. S. C. Tonks; president, Mr. G Ryan; vice-president, Mr. B. .Toll; captain, Mr. F. W. Sutton; secretary, Mr. N. Caplen; committee, Messrs. Elliott, Fletcher, Cox, Bayley, and Glasson; match and handicap committee, president,' captain, and Mr. H. Elliott; green committee,. Messrs. Glasson .and Bayley; auditor, Mr. C. Suisted. New members : Messrs. G. Roberts and Patterson; country members, Messrs. Quin (3) and Stewart. The subscription was fixed at £4 14s, reducible to £4 4s if paid before June 1, and the subscription, for beginners and country members at £2 2s. A special motion of appreciation was passed to Mr. S. C. Tonks for bis generosity in freely giving the use of more land for extensions, and to Mr. J. Sturrock for drawing
up plans of the course and for the work he had put in on the new course.—Star.
