SYRIAN MANDATE.
INVESTIGATED BY AMERICA, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, Feb. 21. The transfer of part of Syrian mandate territory from France to Britain under the convention formally concluded between them without reference to the League, is considered as an apparent violation of the Treaty of Versailles, State Department officials have pointed out that the entire mandate question is so involved that it is being officially investigated by the United States in order to determine the precise status of various conventions.
