(By "Moturoa.”) Wanganui's racing carnival, four days 1c all, commences to-day. The Wanganui Trotting Club will race on Wednesday and Friday, and the Wanganui Jockey Club on Thur»- % day and Saturday. To-day promisee to be a red letter day In trotting in Wanganui, marking the opening of the club’s new course at Liverpool Park (Wanganui East). The track is a five furlongs one, admirably laid out and conveniently situated, and patrons will have a fine view of the racing. /The acceptance* for the first day are very large, and a splendid meeting is assured. The Wanganui Trotting Cup has attracted some fine horses, including Moneymaker, Asturio, and Whist t, and possibly the first-nam-ed will start favorite. Rio Alto appears to. be the best of a moderate lot in the Introductory Handicap, and Kate Zoloch and Rita Hye are well placed in the Foster Handicap. March On and Promenade are a likely pair in the Morton Memorial Handicap, and Admiral Derby and Rio Grande should run out a solid two miles in the President's Handicap. Warlock and Hiram Galindo are fancied candidates in the Tramway Handicap, and Kate Zoloch and Peace will be well supported in the Eastbrook Handicap. Very fair acceptances have been received for the Wanganui Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, which open* on Thursday. Fourteen remain in the Cup, including Oratress, Marqueteur. Punka, Woody Glen, and Dusky Eve, *ll fancied runners. Eleven have been paid up for In the Flying Handicap, and Silver Link. Solfanello, Inah, Astinome and Kinsem all have friends.
