At a large and representative meeting of the Stratford branch of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association held in Stratford on Saturday, February 19, amongst other business the question of the annual field day was discuscsed. Mr. TI. E. B. Watson, the association’s official demonstrator being due to appear in Stratford on Tuesday, March 16. Mr. Ranford proposed, seconded by Mr. Gibbons, that the branch hold a field day on the Stratford Model Farm on Wednesday, February 23, at one o’clock, to which members and all interested be invited to attend. Mr. Ranford pointed out that he had interviewed Mr. Richards, chairman of the model farm, who had expressed his willingness to meet the association on the farm, and that in order to see the farm to the best advantage it was necessary that an early date be decided on. By fixing on Wednesday they would have the advantage of meeting Mr. Deem. Members expressed satisfaction at the project, the resolution being carried unanimously.

THE KING'S CINEMA THEATRE. Constance Talmadge’s latest picture, “In Search of a Sinner,” may truly be said to out-class all her previous productions in its mirth provoking ppssb bilities. Snappy action, clever twists and turns at every flash, surprises continually cropping' up unexpectedly and a wealth' of smart titles and situations that bear the print of the master hand. Supporting items include the “Vanishing Da'gger,” Gazette and Educational. The above, programme will be screened at the King’s Theatre to-night only. COMPLETE CHANGE THURSDAY. “Male and Female,” the picture itself stands forth without a blemish of any kind. Clever, interesting and vastly entertaining it has been produced by Cecil B. De Mille, with all that craftman’s genius for imparting beauty and distinction, semblance and vitality to his 'screen work. “Male and Female” 'towers far above the ordinary film. Picture-goers of all distinctions cannot hut like it, and the more intelligence one brings to it the greater is the relish, carried away. In “Male and Female a tragic note has been introduced which found no place in the original. This consists of a Babylonian episode, suggested by Henley’s lines ’When I was. a King in Babylon and you were a Christian slave ” ' The interpolation fits well into the picture, and gives it an added interest of spectacular beauty and dramatic intensity. It is a great moment in this episode when Gloria Swanson. in the role of the Christian slave, descends the steps to the arena where the lions and martyrdom await her. Gloria Swanson is also the Lady Mary of the plav, and a finer impersonation than that which she gives could be hardly imagined. Thomas Meigham, as Crichton, realises all one's expectations; his is a masterly study. Theodore Roberta plays Lord Loam in comedy vein.' and an excellent piece of characterisation it is. “Male and Female was adapted fo? the screen from Sir James Barrie’s famous play, “The Admirable Crichton.” This picture, will be screened for one night only, and intending patrons should be well advised to book their seats at once. The box plan may be seen at The King’s Theatre Office. Prices for this wonderful production Will be: D.C. 2s, Stalls Is fid (plus tax).
